Leadership Team
The Leadership Team will will work with our Camp Director to lead our camp this summer. They will each possess unique skills and strengths and be required to use them in their positions. They will be creative, outside of the box thinkers, reliable, thoughtful, consistent, hard working, good decision makers and work well as a team and independently when needed. This team will be involved in Counsellor and Support Staff interview day, December 28, 2016. These are 16 week and 10 week positions (early May to late Aug). Staff will be required to live on site at the camp during these months. Each Leadership Team member will be asked to take pictures at camp and share them with the Social Media and Session Coordinator to promote camp. All successful applicants will be required to provide a Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Kenesserie Camp is an alcohol free, tobacco free and illicit drug free facility. There will be zero tolerance of these substances at camp. To provide our campers with the highest quality care our staff must perform at their very best. If you are not able to adhere to this policy please do not apply to camp.

Camper and Counsellor Care Coordinator
The Camper and Counsellor Care Coordinator(the CCCC) will oversee all aspects of caring for our campers and counsellors. The CCCC will contact all first time camper families to welcome them and answer any questions. Should any camper have special needs the CCCC will meet with the camper parents to develop a plan for success. The CCCC will oversee any campers with special needs. This CCCC will check in with all counselling staff on a daily basis and will participate in daily staff meetings. In May and June this position will be involved in planning and running school field trips. This successful applicant will possess First Aid qualifications and be involved in a Development Social Worker Program, Child and Youth Program, Child Studies Program or a related field.
Summer Camp Administrator
This Summer Camp Administrator oversees all aspects of running the camp office. They will possess excellent communication skills, specifically related to sharing the feel of camp over the phone, taking messages, finding answers and returning phone calls. It is very important that this person answers all phone calls. They will learn CampBrain, the web-based database used for registration and become literate in all dealings with this program. This is a key part of the job. It includes but is not limited to: tracking all stages of the registration process, helping families navigate our web registration portal, tracking and processing payments, issuing invoices and receipts, corresponding with camper families and preparing bank deposits. They will receive all camp mail, collect all camp receipts and invoices and be in regular contact with the Camp Treasurer. This person will possess a minimum of a G2 driver’s licence as they will be required to complete town runs to purchase supplies for or complete bank deposits.
Program Coordinator
The Program Coordinator is responsible for all program activities at camp. They will demonstrate a good understanding of the importance of camp for the campers. They will demonstrate good understanding of child development. They will have a passion for camp and sharing camp. The successful applicant will understand that campers learn, thrive, develop self confidence, learn to live in a community and learn independence at camp. They will be responsible for planning each day of camp. They will develop a well planned series of theme related events that occur throughout each week. They will be an excellent communicator as they will work alongside other Leadership Team members to explain their ideas and plans. In May and June this position will be involved in planning and running school field trips. They will have strong leadership skills and will be organized and well spoken. They will possess managerial skills as they will be leading a group of staff during various activities.
Outdoor Education and Leadership Coordinator
The Outdoor Education and Leadership Coordinator will be an individual with a strong understanding of nature and the world we live in. They will demonstrate outdoor education skills. The successful applicant will be responsible for the planning and implementing of Rec Camps and the Counsellor In Training Program. They will run Outdoor Education sessions. They will oversee all School Field Trips which includes communicating with teachers, planning each day and ensuring high quality programs are delivered. This individual will work with the Director to create a vision and plan for the Environmental Learning Centre. This individual will inspire staff and campers to connect with nature and express the importance of nature to us as humans. This person would ideally be enrolled in an Outdoor Education program or a related field of study. This individual will oversee the opening and maintenance of the camp pool during May and June. They will possess NLS and First Aid qualifications.
Social Media and Session Coordinator
The Social Media and Session Coordinator will have a thorough understanding of a variety of social media channels including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and manage Kenesserie’s various social media accounts. This person will seek out opportunities for Kenesserie to take part in a variety of community events. They will work with other Leadership Team members to collect and and organize all pictures taken at camp. They will create an end of week slideshow to be used at closing for each camp session. This person will create an end of summer promotional video using pictures and footage from the summer. They will oversee all sessions run at camp. Sessions will be planned, supplies gathered or purchased and plans compiled in an organized format prior to the start of the camping season. They will work alongside the Program Coordinator to plan and create meaningful sessions that correspond with the weekly themes. These sessions will be quality sessions where campers learn skills, make, create, investigate, think and show. They will be an excellent communicator.
Health Care Provider
The Health Care Provider will begin working at camp in June and work for 10 weeks. They will organize and prepare the Health Care Centre. They will ensure that all medications are current and in stock. This person will oversee all medical forms submitted by campers and staff. They will oversee all medications in an organized and safe fashion. This person will document meds administered. This person will communicate with parents and kitchen staff regarding food allergies. The Health Care Provider will communicate with the Director on a daily basis regarding any illness or injuries at camp. This person should be in a Nursing Program or related field. They will possess as a minimum Standard First Aid & CPR.
Head Cook
The Head Cook will begin working at camp in June and work for 10 weeks. They will clean and prepare the kitchen to be ready for the summer. They will create healthy menus, order food from the supplier and organize food storage. They will prepare all meals for camp. They will oversee and manage the assistant cooks. The Head Cook will maintain the kitchen and adhere to all applicable standards. They will have cooking experience, especially cooking for large groups. They should be in a Culinary Arts Program or a graduate. They will possess a current Safe Food Handling certificate. The Head Cook position will be a negotiated weekly wage based on experience and education, and is not necessarily required to live on site.
